A Staff Accountant (Tax) is primarily responsible for filing various types of Tax returns, interpreting assessments and performing audits.

Utilizes training and best judgement when communicating directly with state and local taxing authorities, which we have friendly but oppositional relationships with.

Responsibilities

• Completes tax returns and audit preparation in a timely fashion
• Completes tax assessment interpretation
• Communicates effectively and knowledgeably with state and local Taxing authorities, Central Support and field locations
• Researches relevant Tax issues utilizing various media when required
• Performs account reconciliations

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Business or equivalent experience required

• Proficient PC skills utilizing Excel, Word and Outlook
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented and analytical
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage time constraints
• Previous Tax compliance experience is appreciated, but is not mandatory for this position 
• Training in tax compliance in the employee’s area of responsibility is provided
