Overview

When you join Suburban Propane, you become a part of a fast-paced and dynamic company that has been serving its employees and customers for over 95 years.  We are looking for a motivated Staff Account - Renewable Energy Services.  As a Staff Accountant – RES, you will perform general accounting duties for Suburban Propane’s growing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) subsidiaries.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in general accounting functions and month-end closing activities.
  • Record various journal entries, including accruals and other recurring monthly entries.
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts of easy to medium difficulty.
  • Review weekly billing data and prepare billing files for invoicing.
  • Prepare weekly draws for operating expenses.
  • Act as a liaison and collaborate with other SuburbanRNG personnel including on-site facility operators.
  • Coordinate vendor account set up and respond to inquiries from external vendors.
  • Ensure incoming bills are accurately recorded, processed, and paid on time.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for external audit requests.
  • Other ad hoc activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by Manager – Accounting and Compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 1-2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Understanding of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger, etc)
  • Proficient with financial systems and Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must be highly organized, able to prioritize competing demands, detail oriented, maintain accuracy, and self-check work
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Must display initiative and work independently, with some oversight
  • Must have good work ethic and integrity, be dependable, adaptable, cooperative, and motivated to take on new responsibilities
