Overview

We are looking for an experienced HR leader to provide strategic leadership across HR Operations, employment compliance and workplace practices. This role will help strengthen how HR operates across the organization by establishing effective processes, governance, controls and consistent practices across 42 states.  The Director will also provide leadership and strategic direction to the HR Field Operations Managers and serve as a key resource for complex workplace matters, including investigations, employee relations and labor relations. The role partners closely with HR leadership, Operations and Legal to manage risk, improve HR practices and deliver practical solutions to complex issues.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for HR Operations, establishing effective processes, governance, controls and accountability that support consistent, efficient and compliant HR practices across the organization.
  • Lead employment compliance by monitoring regulatory developments, assessing risk, implementing required changes and partnering with HR, Legal and business leaders on compliance matters, claims, audits and investigations.
  • Establish and maintain HR governance practices that clarify ownership, strengthen controls and provide visibility into employment-related risks, issues and corrective actions.
  • Lead the development and governance of HR policies, procedures and the employee handbook, ensuring they are compliant, practical and consistently applied.
  • Lead or support HR compliance reviews and audits, assess findings and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Provide guidance on workplace matters, including investigations, corrective action, performance management, conduct and conflict resolution, while establishing consistent investigation, documentation and resolution practices.
  • Analyze workplace trends, HR operational issues and compliance data to identify organizational risks, opportunities for improvement and areas requiring proactive intervention.
  • Establish and monitor metrics and reporting to identify trends, assess risk and measure the effectiveness of HR Operations, compliance and workplace practices.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and improve HR processes and practices, using data, technology and other tools to improve effectiveness, scalability and the employee and manager experience.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to our team of HR Field Operations Managers, fostering alignment and collaboration across the HR team and promoting consistent HR practices across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support on labor relations, including collective bargaining agreements, grievances and represented employee issues.
  • Partner across HR, Operations and Legal to develop practical, business-oriented solutions to complex employment and workplace matters and strengthen HR practices.
  • Develop training, resources and tools that strengthen HR professionals and business leaders in managing employment, compliance and workplace matters.

$130,000 - $150,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience in HR Operations, employment compliance and workplace practices within a multi-state organization.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Significant experience with complex workplace matters, investigations, employee relations and HR policy development.
  • Experience with labor relations, represented employees and collective bargaining agreements preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex employment, compliance and operational issues into clear recommendations and practical action plans.
  • Ability to make sound decisions independently, know when to escalate and develop practical solutions that balance risk and business needs.
